Tropospheric vertical profiling of the aerosol backscatter coefficient and the particle linear depolarization ratio for different aerosol mixtures during the PANACEA campaign in July 2019 at Volos, Greece

The PANhellenic infrastructure for Atmospheric Composition and climate change (PANACEA) campaign took place in July 2019, to assess the presence of aerosols both situ at different heights, selected cities Greece suffering from high air pollution levels. One these sites was city Volos (39.21° N., 22.57° E). Vertical profiles aerosol backscatter coefficient (baer) particle linear depolarization ratio (δp) maritime polluted, urban, smoke dust mixtures were measured during using mobile Aerosol lIdAr System (AIAS). 42 layers characterized, out which 40% urban origin, 26% 21% polluted 12% mixtures. showed a mean δp value 532 nm 4 ± 1%, within range 2–6% 2–5%, respectively. 6 3–9%, while 20 4%, ranging 13 29%. Finally, majority observed above 250 up 2000 m height asl., although reached 3000 asl.
